The original equipment exhaust manifolds on certain Jeep Wagoneer SUVs and Ram 1500 trucks are equipped with a cylinder deactivation system that shuts down four of the engine’s eight cylinders during highway driving to improve fuel economy. This system causes two of the cylinder ports to cool while two remain hot, stressing the exhaust manifold to the point of warping or cracking. This upgraded design features an integrated upper flange that strengthens the sides of the manifold, a thicker lower flange, and a ceramic coating that provides uniform heat distribution.
